edwina hörl // hadaka no osama

catalog poster // labels
this collection and graphic concept is based on «hadaka no osama» japanese for «the emperor’s new clothes» a short tale by hans christian andersen.
the subject «mu» (japanese for «nothing» based on a buddhist way of thinking). the intention of the collections is to make clothes (fashion) invisible. fashion, as an image and carrier of identity, vanishes away.
clothes whose form and colorfulness are so retrained that they leave their wearers almost naked
clothes that look like milk -white memories of clothes. clothes that the emperor, in the fairy-tale the emperor’s new clothes, experienced. one can move in them without the person opposite being certain: is this person dressed? do i see clothes? or do i see something coming towards me that comes from my memory of clothes»
